'The Many Moods' will go where few A.M. talk shows dare
to go on Saturday, September 16th when host, Vince Daniels
not only takes on the Church of Scientology, but moreover
devotes a good chunk of his 3 live hours talking to experts
on cults as well as former church members and with those
currently involved in Scientology, who will have what
Daniels calls "an open forum" to call in and challenge the
guests.
"My show is like the bulldog edition of your Sunday paper,
where maybe you feel like reading it a day early," says the
host of
The Many Moods of Vince Daniels heard every
Saturday from 10am to 1pm all over the Inland Empire on KCAA
1050 AM and is streamed worldwide and podcasted at
KCAARADIO.com. "The Many Moods has a money section, a movie
section, an entertainment section, a commentary section, and
yes, even a religon section, just like any good Sunday
newspaper does. Every once in awhile I like to feature an
extended segment of any of my usual topics. Religon always
seems to pull the listeners in."
Vince is banking on cultic activity as a feature story that
will capture the attention of his listeners. "Most of us
won't admit to ourselves that we have a certain gullability
to us where we might possibly be susceptible to falling for
one of these religious cults. We've all experienced being at
a low point in our lives, and thats when these groups know
to target and go after their recruits. Its not only the
Moonies or the Scientologists, or the Landmark Forum. As far
as I'm concerned, multi-level marketing businesses like
Amway/Quixtar are part of this too. The trick is in
recognizing their tactics and staying above the frey. There
are parents out there that believe they failed because their
son or daughter got caught up in one of these cults. I've
always wanted to do a show that exposes these groups and
points up the tell-tale signs of what to look out for."
In fact, his expose will begin with just that point when at
around 10:45am (PST), Daniels will welcome mind control
expert,
Steve Hassan, the author of "Combatting Cult
Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds." Hassan is the
founder of the
Freedom of Mind Center in Somerville,
MA who has appeared on "Larry King Live" and "The O'Reilly
Factor," among other talk shows. Once heavily involved with
the Unification Church back in the 1970's, Hassan has years
of experience in the "deprogramming" and counseling of
former members. Says the host, "Steve's appearance sets the
stage for the rest of the show."
This will include
David Touretzsky, professor at
Carnegie Mellon Unversity and an outspoken critic of the
Church of Scientology. He brings with him information on the
nationally known drug treatment program known as
Narconon,
which according to Touretzsky is "nothing more than a front
for Scientology." He'll be on to discuss their new facility
set to open soon in Southern California and how he'll to
rally support to keep it from opening. Touretzky will
introduce
Greg Beha, father of a young man who
briefly attended a Narconon facility in Michigan. In studio
will be
Tory Christman, a 30-year member of the
Church who will share from personal experience being
involved in what was called "black P.R." for Scientology and
one day took a long look at what she was doing.
An invitation for current members of the Church of
Scientology to appear in studio is extended along with calls
to the program by calling (909)888-5222. This will be the
first time that Christman, Hassan and Touretzky have
appeared on KCAA. To listen to the first time the 3 of them
appeared with Daniels in his former venue in August of 2005,
