ANNOUNCER JAY BOATMAN JOINS THE "MANY MOODS" AS VINNIE'S NEW RIGHT HAND MAN
October 19, 2005

When the "Many Moods of Vince Daniels" returns live on Saturday, October 22 at 4:00pm (PST), the voice that opens the show with "TODAY on the Many Moods" is unmistakenly that of Jay Boatman, because at the close of his billboard of upcoming guests, he leaves you his calling card as he reminds you in his melodious way "and ME, I'm your announcer, Jay Boatman."

Host Vince Daniels remembers that "in the past we would always open the show with a drop-in that said 'previously on the Many Moods,' and granted this show has a lot of history and tie-in's to the present.   Jay and I were in agreement that for this show to be successful, we needed to always keep it going forward."   Daniels also knew that this was one way to showcase Boatman's true talent.   "The guy has got a million dollar voice," says the host of a show that has had its fair share of struggles keeping a co-host.   Unlike what previous personalities like Mikey Mondavi and Chuck Dickinson brought in terms of hosting and having an equal position of prominance on The Many Moods, Boatman will be "the voice" of the show.   While he does not see Jay in a traditional co-hosting role, this is not to say that he won't be heard occassionally chiming in during various segments.

"Boatman is a stage name.  Listeners might know him as Jason Barquero who has appeared with me in the past doing political punditry on the program."  Indeed when Vinnie refers to him as his "right-hand" man, you get a good idea why.    "I like that Jay is conservative in most of his views.  I try to be conservative-to moderate-to liberal if such a thing is possible.  It's nice to have someone who can be my conservative conscience.  As time goes on, I am looking for that one special co-host.  I want to bring a female into the fold who would be the opposite, liberal in nature, and a likeable liberal at that.  Somebody like a Nancy Skinner out of Detroit. Whoever this person is,  I believe that she'll find us.   Right now and for the immediate future, I want everyone to get to know Jay.  He's worth knowing."

If you've been to Dodgers Stadium, perhaps you've heard his golden tones eminating over their P.A. system.  Jay is a graduate of Cal State University, Fullerton, where as recently as last year he earned his B.A. in Speech Communications.    Before that, he began as a student of Cerritos College where he was one of the first students to get radio station, W.P.M.D. off the ground when it debuted in 1999.  In 2000 he played music D.J. and  host of the "Rich and Jay Show" along with Rich Morgan.  After doing several of the spots and voice-overs that continue to play on the station, Boatman went on to do numerous voice-overs for MediaOne Cable (now known as Comcast Cable).   He later enrolled at the prestigious Del Mar Media Arts, in Irvine California where he completed 4 certificates and is a Product/Graduate.   In the 2 years since he graduated, he has had many voice-over offers and performs occassional on-camera commercial work.

Part of the reason Daniels tapped Boatman for the job is because shortly, The Many Moods will be looking to sell advertising time on the show.   Vinnie needed a great voice for the spots.
