DANIELS DEBUT'S AT K.C.A.A. APRIL 1ST
March 25,
2006
Set to continue his unique brand of
'variety talk,' Vince Daniels
returns to the radio in a new 3-hour format which will move his once
late afternoon/early evening show into a slot that the longtime host of
"The Many Moods of Vince Daniels," and the management of his new
station, hope will capture a bigger listening audience.
In a 1-year deal reached back on January 28th between Daniels and Fred Lundgren, C.E.O. of Broadcast
Management, Inc. of Katy, Texas, Vince's
Many Moods show will begin on April 1, 2006 and be live every
Saturday in mid-day drive time from 10:00AM unitl 1:00PM on KCAA 1050
A.M., the talkradio outlet owned by Lundgren and located in San
Bernardino.
The last time that Daniels was heard on the radio, it was internet
radio on January 14th of this year, the occassion of The Many Moods 5th anniversary and
farewell show from his alma mater, Cerritos College. "Words can't
describe how excited I am that my voice will now be heard on
terrestrial radio," according to the host whose sentiments are not
altogether shared by an increasing number of other air personalities
who claim that satellite radio is the wave of the future. "If
satellite is such a great thing, then why was Howard Stern so emotional
on his last day in December? Deep down I think he knew what he was
leaving behind."
While Vince Daniels' shifing in medium is the opposite of Stern's (not
to mention show content), The Many
Moods faces somewhat similar risks. Will there be an
audience? Says Daniels, "the numbers show that close to 11,000 are
listening to K.C.A.A. during the Saturday mid-day hours. The trick is
in getting to know who these listeners are, work hard to keep them, and
to grow the audience size. The greatest accolade is if someone is
driving to get somewhere and they're so caught up in listening to the
show that they don't want to get out of thier car after they've arrived
at thier destination. That means I've arrived. I don't want to be a
burden on my listeners. I want to be a friend. I want everyone to like
the family of contributors that I've assembled. When my theme
song rolls and I step out from behind that imaginary curtain at
10:05,after the news on the morning of April 1st, I'm gonna give it all
I've got. We'll see where the next 52 weeks takes us. My
time slot is guaranteed for at least that long."
Holdovers from the old station joining Vinnie on the new include his
announcer, Jay Boatman and
semi-regulars, the "Man-on-the-Money," Jerry
Sluciewicz, with George Gamble
as the other money man. DecentFilms
.Com's, Steven Greydanus
also continues with movie reviews. Dee
Spencer will return as occassional fill-in host. "Politics" and
"Pop Culture" will be two new semi-regular features. Jay Boatman will
anchor the politics and on April 1st will debut a new segment called Jay's Hot Seat. Crista Curtis officially joins the
show that same day to anchor all pop culture-related topics. NBC News
will provide local headlines at the top of each hour. Newsman, Mike Wood will anchor live from the
KCAA newsroom. With the exception of Wood's newscasts and Boatman's
regular billboard show opens, for now The
Many Moods of Vince Daniels will have a semi-regular cast of
characters. Regular co-host's will be added and announced, in the
months ahead.
